Thurman Diamond is a highly accomplished professional with close to 20 years of experience in recreation program leadership. He is committed to delivering exceptional programs and fostering continuous improvement within community centers, staff development, and employee engagement. His expertise spans youth development, recreation programming, and inclusion services, making him a reliable and strategic thinker who excels at collaboration.

As Parks, Recreation and Tourism Superintendent, Thurman oversees the operations of eight community centers and five auxiliary centers, managing a diverse array of programs, including instructional, youth, senior, therapeutic recreation, and environmental services programs for the City of Chesapeake. He has also chaired the Summer Survival Training for the past 7 years, successfully broadening its reach and introducing it to several cities in Virginia.

Thurman was instrumental in expanding the Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Community Center, where the addition of a pool exemplifies his commitment to excellence and innovation in the community. Holding a degree in Music Education, he is actively engaged in ongoing professional development to remain informed about industry trends and best practices.
