Membership Information

Any agency organized for the purpose of providing leisure services or goods for a particular sector and aligning its aims and objectives consistent with those of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society, Inc. shall not be entitled to vote. Individuals joining under Agency/Organization, shall be entitled to voting status and other privileges of the Society as outlined in their respective membership categories (provided dues are paid). 

Any agency organized for the purpose of providing leisure services or goods for a particular sector and aligning its aims and objectives consistent with those of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society, Inc. shall not be entitled to vote. Rural Agency Scholarships may only be applied to the 1-5 member tier. Rural agencies are defined as serving a population under 25,000 and subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

Other than non-profit organizations, companies involved in the delivery of leisure services, equipment, supplies or similarly associated activities. Carries no voting privilege.
Members Included:  2

Any nonprofit organization organized for the purpose of supporting recreation, parks, conservation, or leisure activities in alignment with aims and objectives consistent with those of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society, Inc. 

 Individuals joining under the Nonprofit Organization shall be entitled to all privileges of the Society (provided dues are paid) except the right to vote and hold elective office.
Members included: 2

Any college/university dedicated to educating students on the delivery of parks, recreation, and leisure services. Individuals joining under the College or University as academic faculty shall be entitled to all privileges of the Society.

 
Members Included: All full-time academic faculty and students enrolled in a relevant degree program. Does not include part-time or adjunct faculty.

Any individual who is employed directly in the delivery of recreation, parks, or leisure services. Shall be entitled to all privileges of the Society provided dues are paid.

Any individual currently enrolled in a college or university as a candidate for a degree in the leisure services field of study who does not qualify for professional membership. Shall be entitled to all privileges of the Society except the right to vote, hold elective office, and chair a standing Committee (provided dues are paid).

Board and Commission members or any individual not eligible for professional membership (All employees of parks and recreation agencies are considered eligible for Professional membership).  Shall be entitled to all privileges of the Society except the right to vote and hold elective office, other than lay representative to the Board of Directors (provided dues are paid). Not for consultants or manufacturers/suppliers.

Any individual who has retired from a professional membership status. Shall be entitled to all privileges of the Society provided dues are paid.
