This statewide initiative aims to highlight what we do as parks and recreation professionals; it’s your agency’s chance to SHINE by providing free access to PLAY in your communities.
Nearly 50 agencies participated in the 2025 event, and we are looking to engage more of our Parks & Recreation families from around the state for 2026. Save the date for Sunday, June 21, where we will celebrate the official kickoff of summer and what we do best, PLAY!

While we understand this year’s initiative is surrounded by Father’s Day, the first week of summer and Juneteenth, we challenge your agency to do what you can where you can with the resources you have. Several agencies are offering their event on a different day (Friday or Saturday). If this is the case, please still register your agency.
Even small actions can make big impacts—like waiving a fee, extending hours, offering a pop-up activity or simply encouraging self-guided play. Let’s come together to make the longest day of the year a fun, welcoming celebration for your community.
