Event Details
The National Recreation and Park Association offers the premier certification program in swimming pool operations, the Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification. The AFO program provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date training for pool operators, including information on water chemistry, disinfection, mechanical systems, facility operations, maintenance, health and safety, and more.
This course is a comprehensive two-day in-person training conducted by an AFO Instructor with an exam administered at the end of the second day.
AFO candidates are highly encouraged to take the in-person course for initial certification.
The AFO Course offers 1.5 CEU's issued by NRPA. The course syllabus is available HERE.
Objectives:
- Gain understanding of water chemistry and disinfection.
- Gain understanding of mechanical systems and their operation in an aquatic facility.
- Gain understanding of health and safety concerns in an aquatic facility.
- Gain understanding of overall aquatic facility operations.
- Become certified by passing a written test covering the above topics.
Participant materials including the book will be mailed directly to the participant once registration is complete. Participants should make sure to bring the book and other materials to the class!
There will be a 1-hour lunch break each day. A lunch of sandwiches and/or pizza and various beverages (sodas and waters) will be provided by our sponsor Berry & Company.
