Explore ways to incorporate mindfulness into any parks and recreation program and deepen your understanding of yoga and fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles—and their practical applications. Connect with peers, exchange ideas, and build relationships that strengthen the work we do for our communities.
Wear comfortable, yoga-ready clothing for opportunities to move and stretch, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

Schedule:
10am-10:30am – Meet and Greet HWRG Business Meeting
10:30am-11:30am – Choose your Mental Adventure: Meltdown Meditation or More Coffee - Parks and recreation professionals spend their days managing crowded programs, frustrated customers, full inboxes, and constant transitions, and the usual coping strategies rarely hold up. This interactive session introduces practical mindfulness techniques that take 10 to 60 seconds and fit into the work we already do, with no meditation cushion required. Attendees will practice breathing, grounding, sensory awareness, and emotional check-ins live. They will then apply a simple Notice, Pause, Choose framework to real scenarios from sports, aquatics, camps, therapeutic recreation, facilities, and administration. Everyone leaves with a take-home toolkit and a personal plan to bring mindfulness to their own role, staff, and programs.
